What does Senior Art Director do at WPP Production?

As a Senior Art Director, you will help shape, curate, and design cohesive visual identities and physical touchpoints for world-class brands. You will have a natural curiosity for design culture, material innovation, typography, and global consumer trends.

In this role, you will lead the translation of brand strategies into beautiful, tactile, and highly functional packaging and comprehensive brand identity systems. You must have a deep understanding of structural and graphic packaging requirements, print production, material substrates, and how physical assets seamlessly translate into POSM (Point of Sale Materials) and other physical brand assets. You will actively collaborate with others ensure the work is on-brief, innovative, and highly distinctive.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the visual ideation and execution of brand identity systems, including but not limited to logos, visual hierarchies, packaging, typography, and brand guidelines.
  • Translate complex brand strategies and consumer insights into distinctive visual concepts that resonate across both retail shelves and digital touchpoints.
  • Serve as the visual and design owner on packaging structures, outer-box graphics, labels, and point-of-sale displays with an extraordinary eye for craftsmanship, layout, and typographic detail.
  • Assist the Associate Creative Director with lifestyle and product photoshoots by preparing highly detailed styling mood boards, art directing product renders, and guiding post-production and color grading.
  • Present design systems and packaging concepts clearly to clients, articulating the strategic rationale behind visual decisions and material choices.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with Account Management, Copywriters, and Production Artists to bring brand identities to life smoothly from concept to shelf.
  • Remain highly receptive to constructive feedback from creative leadership and clients, utilizing it to refine and elevate design executions.

 

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Graphic Design, Brand Design, Packaging Design, Fine Arts, or equivalent portfolio-based design program.
  • 4–6 years of dedicated brand identity and/or packaging design experience within a design studio, brand consultancy, or an in-house brand creative team.
  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, with mastery in Illustrator and InDesign, alongside Photoshop.
  • Practical knowledge of print production processes, dielines, prepress, color management, and sustainable packaging materials.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex design systems clearly.
  • Highly organized, collaborative, and capable of managing multiple design deliverables under deadline.
  • Experience using generative AI tools to explore conceptual directions, mood-board textures, or build initial mock concepts quickly is highly valued.
