What does Packaging Designer do at WPP Production?
The ideal candidate should possess a keen eye for design and the ability to lead the conceptualization, structural development, and graphic design of product packaging. In this role, you will bridge the gap between form and function, creating beautiful, brand-aligned, and consumer-centric packaging solutions that stand out on retail shelves and delight customers. The ideal candidate possesses a strong visual design sensibility, a deep understanding of structural design, and expert knowledge of print production, materials, and sustainable packaging practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Brainstorm, sketch, and prototype innovative packaging concepts that align with the brand identity and marketing strategies.
- Design high-quality graphics, typography, layouts, and color palettes for primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging.
- Develop structural packaging designs that ensure product protection, cost-efficiency, and ease of assembly.
- Review, mark up, and approve physical pre-production samples and printer proofs to ensure flawless color accuracy and finishing.
- Ensuring that you are delivering against the brand guidelines, tone of voice and overall brand aesthetic.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure design consistency and accuracy.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, adhering to tight product launch timelines and budgets.
- Explore and understand how AI tools might enhance the creative process within the Chinese digital context (e.g., research, brainstorming, efficiency, trend identification).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- 3+ years of dedicated experience in consumer packaging design (CPG, beauty, electronics, food & beverage, or retail).
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign).
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively.
- A keen interest in emerging technologies and creative applications of AI specifically for the Chinese digital landscape.
