WPP Production is seeking a motivated Studio Assistant / Digital Op to join our Content Studio team based at our Port Melbourne-based Retail Centre of Excellence. This is an exciting entry-level opportunity for someone with a sound understanding of content production and a desire to immerse themselves in the world of professional stills and motion capture across our Fashion and Ecom client base.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This entry level hybrid role offers a unique chance to develop your skills across studio operations and advanced digital image capture. As a Studio Assistant / Digi Op, you'll be instrumental in ensuring the seamless and efficient operation of our Bertie St Production Studio. You'll support the Studio Manager in meticulous resource management and studio readiness, while also diving deep into on-set digital capture, workflow optimisation, and crucial initial image quality control.

Reporting to the Studio Manager, you will work closely with Photographers, Producers, and the Photo Ops Team. As part of WPP Production’s "Production Squad," you'll be encouraged to connect with local counterparts and stay ahead of the latest industry trends and innovations.

The Photography Studio Coordinator reports to the Studio Manager and works closely with Producers and Sample/Ecom team

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Studio & Resource Management:

  • Ensure all photographic equipment is accounted for, well-maintained, and in excellent working order.
  • Manage the gear room, overseeing the check-in/check-out process for both internal and hired equipment.
  • Ensure all studio assets like walls, props, and other items are properly stored and cared for.
  • Prepare the studio by painting cycloramas, walls, and props for upcoming shoots.

 Shoot Set-up & Assistance:

  • Collaborate with Producers and the Photo Ops Team to coordinate photography and motion shoots.
  • Set up studios according to client requirements, including lighting, propping, and changing areas.
  • Provide essential emergency assistance when an extra pair of hands is needed.
  • Support the workflow using Capture One software.
  • Manage the setup, testing, and clear-up of equipment on set.
  • Assist with the precise positioning and adjustment of lighting and camera equipment as directed.

 Digital Operator & On-Set Workflow support:

  • Set up, configure, and manage high-speed tethered capture stations using Capture One Pro for seamless image acquisition.
  • Monitor image quality in real-time (focus, exposure, white balance, colour accuracy) and flag any issues immediately.
  • Implement and ensure strict adherence to consistent file naming conventions and comprehensive metadata application.
  • Integrate and set up Creative Force production technology with Capture One.
  • Perform immediate, redundant backups of all raw image files to secure storage solutions and initiate preliminary archiving.
  • Efficiently diagnose and resolve technical issues with cameras, lighting, computers, and software to minimise downtime.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to streamline and improve photographic workflows, from pre-production to post-capture handover.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • Proven experience in an entry-level coordination, operations, or administrative role, ideally within a ecom or photography based studio, production company, or similar fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for the Stills Photography & content industries.
  • A sound understanding of the content production process, with a focus on photography and motion capture.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop practical shooting experience and hands-on digital workflow expertise.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment.
  • Basic technical aptitude for understanding and troubleshooting equipment.
