ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you a strategic social content client expert with a passion for driving commercial success and leading high-performing teams? 

As our Social Content Account Director, you will provide leadership for the Social Content team that delivers a range of always-on Social Content creative for a leading CPG client, with direct responsibility for the team’s operational and commercial success. 

You will lead crucial client relationships and contribute to the development of a high-performing team of Social & Content Pod Leads that are accountable for engaging with multiple brand divisions and production pods for the client’s diverse portfolio of brands. This role serves as the primary nexus between senior client brand teams, their wider agency village and global campaign connections, ensuring best-in-class social content, strategic creative direction, and impactful influencer programs. You'll be the visionary leader with high-level expertise in social strategy and content production at scale, and deep experience in orchestrating successful influencer programs.

What You'll Do (Core Responsibilities):

Client & Strategic Leadership:

  • Serve as the primary senior strategic contact and escalation point for Brand Directors and Marketing Leads, building and nurturing strong, trust-based relationships while identifying significant growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate strategically with WPP Production’s Head of Client Service on senior stakeholder management, business development initiatives, and the overall commercial health and growth of the Unilever account.
  • Drive the overarching strategic vision for the client’s brands within the Content Studio, translating brand objectives into comprehensive multi-brand social creative strategies and industry-leading influencer programs.
  • Represent WPP Production as a key strategic production lead within the agency village to ensure integrated and holistic campaign strategies are delivered from the outset.
  • Lead strategic planning sessions, Quarterly Business Reviews, and annual planning with senior client brand teams, presenting high-level strategic recommendations, creative concepts, and performance insights.
  • Ensure all studio output aligns with the client’s strategic goals, brand guidelines, platform best practices, and performance benchmarks.

Team Management & Operational Excellence:

  • Support a high-performing team of Social & Content Leads, empowering them to effectively manage their respective pods and fostering a culture of creative excellence and accountability.
  • Oversee and optimise overall studio production workflows and resource allocation, ensuring efficient delivery of high-volume, high-quality social and influencer content across all client brands.
  • Manage overall resource capacity and allocation across always-on content, campaign integration work, and strategic initiatives, ensuring optimal utilisation and team well-being.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and supportive environment across all specialist functions (Community, Content, Influencer) and the wider Creator bench within the Content Studio.
  • Have oversight responsibility for effective Pod day-to-day delivery decisions in relation to client projects, including estimates approval, project schedules, and resourcing, and ensure Pod teams manage stakeholder needs and expectations (costs, timings, quality of output, change requests, risks, etc.).

Social Creative & Influencer Leadership:

  • Contribute to the creative vision and direction for all influence & social content produced by the client Content Studio, ensuring it is culturally relevant, on-brand, and optimized for each platform.
  • Partner with key client Brand Leads to develop, implement, and continuously evolve the overarching influencer marketing strategy for the client, identifying opportunities for impactful partnerships and scalable programs.
  • Champion creative innovation, pushing boundaries for social content formats, storytelling, and emerging platform features.
  • Provide expert guidance on influencer identification, vetting, brief development, content review, and performance measurement.
  • Lead the continuous development and enhancement of our social creative and influencer capabilities within the studio, investing in talent, tools, and processes to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Oversee, in collaboration with Social Content Leads, the quality and consistency of creative output across all pods, ensuring brand integrity and strategic effectiveness.

Performance & Optimisation:

  • Drive a data-led approach to strategy and content creation, overseeing the analysis of holistic performance data and social metrics across the entire client brand portfolio to inform strategic decisions and drive innovation.
  • Identify overarching trends and opportunities for content optimisation, audience engagement, and strategic growth for the client’s social presence across relevant brands and corresponding influencer impact.
  • Ensure continuous improvement of studio processes, quality standards, team capabilities, and the overall value proposition delivered to Unilever.
  • Report on overall studio performance, ROI, and strategic recommendations to senior WPP Production and client Marketing leadership, demonstrating tangible business impact and future growth potential.

 

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Leadership experience in client management across social media, content production, and influencer marketing, preferably within an agency or in-house environment for large, complex brands.
  • Proven track record of leading, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams, including other managers/leads.
  • High-level expertise in social strategy and content production at scale, with meaningful experience in orchestrating successful influencer programs.
  • Exceptional client relationship management skills at a senior stakeholder (Manager & Director) level.
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience in driving account growth and managing operational success.
  • A visionary approach to social content, with a finger on the pulse of emerging platforms, technologies, and trends.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within an integrated agency ecosystem, fostering strong inter-agency partnerships.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience in analysing complex performance metrics to inform strategic decisions and optimization.
  • Strong understanding of brand guidelines, platform best practices, and the ability to ensure high-quality, consistent creative output at scale.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, capable of influencing senior stakeholders.
